Erick Erickson—conscientious Christian, onetime CNN contributor, power-tweeter, and vital voice of 21st century conservatism—knows why the U.S. was caught unprepared for Ebola: government waste meant to benefit leftist homosexuals.

As TPM reported this morning, Erickson took a break from preparing for seminary school on Monday in order to inveigh on the latest health news and relate it to Our Broken Government Problem. Ostensibly, he was criticizing a Democratic group for this new ad linking GOP spending cuts to the Ebola scare, which is quite a silly emotional leap lacking several logical links:

But rather than coolly out-reason liberals on one occasion when it would work smoothly, Erickson decided to stay true to himself and his deep current of human pathos:

At a time when more and more Americans, including millennials, are concluding government just doesn't work, [the ad] probably won't be effective. And Republicans can respond in kind.

For example, instead of studying Ebola, the National Institutes of Health were studying the propensity of lesbians to be fat.

Then there was the money for a study on wives who calm down quickly...

The argument continued, but in his savvy, Erickson neatly summarized his poignant contribution to policy discourse in the post's headline: "Fat Lesbians Got All the Ebola Dollars, But Blame the GOP."

Erick Erickson: He's what you get if you take an influential political evangelical, boil him in a pot, skim off the tallow, mix it with a little dog pee, and apply it to your front door in the form of a giant "X" in hopes that human kindness will see it and pass your house over. And the amazing thing is: It will.
