South Carolina Republican Calls Gay Couples "Gremlins"
Anthony Culler is the Republican candidate for United States Congress in South Carolina's 6th District. He probably wasn't in any danger of beating longtime incumbent James Clyburn in this heavily Democratic district. But he sure does want everybody to know how much he hates the gays.
Culler, a conservative Christian with a face only a Tom Berenger lookalike fan-club president could love, is a birther who complains that the gubmint can trace the origins of guns used in crimes "better than you can Barack Obama." He says he "will strive to be a Godly servant to the people" of his district if elected. Just not those gays, though. He has gathered his thoughts about gays in an Oct. 14 Facebook post for you. Here is a summary:
- "Same-sex 'marriage' is a pestilence that has descended on our society, against our will."
- Same-sex couples are whispering deceptive arguments in your ears and marketing to your children.
- Same-sex couples "seek to destroy our way of life" and "are NOT cute and cuddly"; no, they are "Gremlins that will only destroy our way of life." That's right: They'll destroy your—nay, our—way of life twice. In one breath.
- Gays "also have a strong tendency for substance abuse," and you should avoid the 'over the top' and 'anything goes' ceremonies or parties that these people revel in."
Culler adds of gays: "These people are bullies and now that they are winning their true and hateful nature is much easier to see and hear. (Watch the response to this post.)"
Here is the complete set of Facebook responses to his post:
Well. At least God knows how to deal with hateful bullies. Larry Sabato and the Cook Political Report have Culler's race listed as a "Safe Democratic" hold. He's widely expected to lose to Clyburn by 30 to 40 points.
But who knows? Bobby Jindal likes the cut of the guy's jib, apparently.
